ARC Weblog 271106 - Day 2

We are rated the slowest boat in the fleet, one of two in fact, another Nicholson 32 called Thisbe. The state of play at 03:30 UTC: we are smoking up the middle of the fleet at a blistering 2.8 knots. We are 21 degrees off course but no one cares, not even the skipper. The boat is actually stabling out a bit but this long keeled sloop does not dance on the waves for anything under 10 knots. Finbarr is up on deck assembling the fishing gear we cobbled together and Sophie is wishing one of the fleet would slow down so she has something to look at on the horizon. We lost sight of the last of the fleet over eggs and bacon at 09:00. Entertainment for the afternoon will be our first Spanish lesson. Sophie and I have both vowed to study it together.
