Beating into a F5 NE'ly with the big toe bandaged

Engine and Sail Trials

Well after two years at sea, sail trials would be a bit of a misnomer but truth be told I have not raised the sails for over 4 months. The trip down the coast with friends turned out to be more extended sea trials for the engine with another 44 hours wracked up. The sail from Los Cristianos to Fuerteventura was a bit of a wake-up call. Once out of the lee of Tenerife I was slammed with a F6 NE'ly. It bit me on the nose. In a matter of minutes I went from put-putting around in light airs to pounding waves and strong winds. 48 hours later I arrived in Morro Jable, on the South East side of Fuerteventura. I was not a happy camper but my mission had been accomplished. I had tested boat and motor one last time before the Atlantic crossing.
