Trapani to Alicante - Day 7

I needed to get out of the Mediterranean, quickly. I had no crew. The winds were favourable leaving Trapani on the Monday after the America's Cup and not too bad looking forward to the passage west. I went for it. I am typing this Day 7, only 524 miles completed. It has been a lot of hard work maintaining 80 nautical miles a day. I have not broken 100 nm in a day. Reef one, shake it out, now wind, engine four! That sequence once every 24 hours or there about. As I type this it's 9 in the morning, the sun has just come up and I have a CD on to simulate a bit of am radio. There is no wind. I managed about 20 nm undersail last night. Now I have to think about the engine again. I am about to fill the tank with diesel from jerry cans. Always a messy proposition. It's time to make tracks. 120 miles to go! Did have a bit of a momentent on day 3. You know the one, boyhood dream, the moon and stars were out the boat was managing a confortable 4 knots under sail and I was totally and uterly in the moment. It was great. Today, I am a little more sanguine. I just want to get to shore.
